Grain Valley, MO —

Grain Valley experienced something new Thursday.
The Eagles lost a singles match for the first time this year.
Grain Valley still stayed unbeaten as a team, trouncing Lexington, 8-1.
Singles wins went to Katelynn Barr, Allison Ehlen, Leanna Meredith, Chelsey Rice and Kaylynn McClain. Grain Valley (4-0) swept doubles behind the teams of Barr-Rice, Ehlen-Manns and McClain-Megan Kaldenberg.
“We’re off to a nice start,” Eagles coach Randy Draper said. “We have Excelsior Springs Tuesday, and that will be our tougest match so far.”
The Eagles split the JV matches 3-3.
LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 9,WILLIAM CHRISMAN 0: Host Lee’s  Summit North had everything go its way in stopping William Chrisman.
Emy Luebbering, Roni Immethun, Courtney Rogers, Kenzie Berweld, Shelby Stephens and Jessie Eubank posted singles wins. Luebbering and Immethun, Rogers and Berweld and Stephens and Geneva Mullen were victorious in doubles.
“We are keep trying to improve,” Chrisman coach Kim Leibhard.
North was a 7-2 junior varsity winner.
LEE’S SUMMIT 6, TRUMAN 3: The host Patriots came close to grabbing an upset victory over Lee’s Summit Thursday.
Truman lost a tiebreaker singles match, two 10-8 singles matches and a 10-7 match in the loss.
“This could have gone either way,” Pats coach Tara Corwin said. “Any two of those would have been nice to win. I keep talking to the kids about focusing and finishing. It will come with maturity and playing. We just need to finish it out to the end.”
Jordan Mercurio, Katie Glenn, Kelzy Angle, Shelby Fuchs and Sarah Matthews won singles matches for Lee’s Summit, while the team of Mercurio-Glenn won in doubles.
For Truman, Stephanie Benson won in singles, while the teams of Bailey Chappell-Alexis Weller and Christa Friend-Ashley Anderson won in doubles.
Truman lost the JV match, 6-3.
