The Truman baseball team didn’t waste any time clinching the season’s sixth victory.

The Patriots (6-3, 2-2 conference) led 5-0 after one inning and 8-0 after three in defeating visiting Ruskin 9-6 in a Suburban Middle Six game Monday.

“It’s a conference win and hopefully we will play better against Fort Osage (today),” Truman coach John Eglich said.

Andrew Billingsley pitched five innings for the victory. He also led an 11-hit Truman attack with two singles and a double. J.T. Hayes singled and hit a solo homer and Cody Biegel doubled.

LIBERTY 6, BLUE SPRINGS 1: A three-run first inning carried host Liberty (7-1, 3-1) to the Suburban Big Six victory.

“We made a mistake here and there and it came back and got us,” Blue Springs coach Marc Hines said. “You have to make the plays.”

Spencer Schwendt held Blue Springs (1-2, 4-1) to six hits. Jay Corwin suffered the loss.

LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 20, RAYTOWN 4: A 14-run fourth inning lifted North to the victory over the host Blue Jays.

Deven Willmon doubled three times and drove in four runs to power the Broncos (4-4). Matt Brumfield and Andrew Warner had three and two singles, respectively.

Winning pitcher Tregg Pohlmann spaced three hits and struck out five as Raytown fell to 2-5.

PARK HILL SOUTH 13, WILLIAM CHRISMAN 7: The Bears darted to a 5-0 lead with a second-inning rally, but the wheels came off after Park Hill South plated seven in the second.

Chrisman (0-6, 0-5) tied the game in the fourth with a pair of runs, but South (3-7, 3-2) again answered with three in the bottom half and three more in the sixth to pick up the Middle Seven win.

“If we could learn to take the one bad inning out of the last couple games, I think we’d be pleased with the result,” Chrisman coach J.R. Wells said.

Dylan Cole finished 2-for-3 and cracked a three-run homer for the Bears and Matt Fleiffner went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs.

BLUE SPRINGS SOUTH 7, NIXA 6: A two-run seventh-inning rally paid off big for Blue Springs South on Saturday.

The Jaguars scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to edge Nixa  and claim the Blue Division championship of the Springfield Blue-Red Classic.

Taylor Sprague opened the bottom of the inning with a single, was sacrificed to second and scored the tying run. Seconds later, Nate Goff scored the winning run on Jared Ginter’s infield single and a Nixa throwing error.
