Area drivers enjoyed one of their finer evenings of the season Friday night at Valley Speedway.
Shad Badder of Oak Grove and Scotty Martin of Independence claimed victories in the A-modified and B-modified feature races, respectively, to help local drivers win two features for the first time this season at the Grain Valley track.
Badder began his night by sailing to a win in the second heat race to earn the front row outside starting position for the feature event.
In the feature event, he managed to hold off Jason Bodenhamer of Centerview, Mo., to take the win.
Bodenhamer followed up his Valley finish with a second in the modified class and a win in the ULMA (United Late Model Association) division at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.
Like Badder, Martin also won both his heat race and the feature event in the B-modified ranks.
Brett Rollert of Smithville, Mo. (limited late models) and Herb Danner of Holden, Mo. (street stocks) were the other two feature winners at Valley.
I-70 SPEEDWAY: Fifteen-year-old driver Cody Baker of Lone Jack, Mo., raised eyebrows Saturday night at the I-70 Speedway dirt track in Odessa, Mo., by topping a field of eight to win the non-winged sprint car feature.
KNOXVILLE SPEEDWAY: Danny Lasoski of Higginsville, Mo., protected his points lead in the division for winged sprint cars with 410-cubic-inch engines by finishing third Saturday night at the Iowa track.
Lasoski’s nephew, Brian Brown of Grain Valley, ran sixth and Davey Heskin of St. Michael, Minn., won the feature.
Brown finished third Friday night in an American Sprint Car Series feature at U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo. Jack Dover of Springfield, Neb., won the race and Billy Alley of Lincoln, Neb., Brown’s rival, placed second.
CENTRAL MISSOURI SPEEDWAY: Saturday night weekly programs at both Adrian (Mo.) Speedway and Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg were rained out.
LA RACEWAY: Terry Schultz of Sedalia, Mo. (modifieds), Marc Carter of Warrensburg, Mo. (street stocks), Jonathan Cornell of Sedalia, Mo. (305 sprints) and Danny Everts of Knob Noster, Mo. (hobby stocks) were feature winners in the Friday night weekly program featuring 84 drivers in four classes at the three-eighths-mile dirt track in LaMonte, Mo.
LAKESIDE SPEEDWAY: Tim Karrick of Basehor, Kan. (modifieds), Paul Lanfermann of Atchison, Kan. (grand nationals) and Michael Taylor of Kansas City (factory stocks) notched checkered flags in the three feature races Friday night at the three-eighths-mile dirt track in Kansas City, Kan.
WORLD OF OUTLAWS: Joey Saladana of Brownsburg, Ind., won the Night Before The King Royals race held Friday night at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, and Jason Meyers of Colvis, Calif., topped the field Wednesday night in the Brad Doty Classic at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio.
The prestigious and high-paying King Royals program at the Eldora track scheduled for Saturday night was rained out and rescheduled for Sunday night.
