Brandon See is headed to state.
The Truman senior swimmer qualified by placing ninth in the 100-yard butterfly in 57.89 seconds in the North Kansas City Invitational Saturday at the Gladstone Community Center.
The Patriots finished 12th in the team standings against tough competition.
“This was obviously his best swim of the year,” Truman coach Trevor Tomney said. “His stroke just clicked and his turns were excellent. He came in with a great attitude and was ready to make his state cut.”
The top individual finisher for Truman was Eric Van Fleet, who finished third in one-meter diving with 416.90 points.
Ryan Olsen (1:08.40) was 10th in the 100 breaststroke. The 200 medley relay team of Olsen, Sam Wilson, See and Andrew Rick placed eighth (1:50.64).
Raytown finished fourth in the meet. Tony Hernandez won the 100 breaststroke (1:01.01) and was fourth in the 200 individual medley (2:06.00) to lead the Blue Jays.
Lee’s Summit West placed sixth as a team, sparked mostly by relays. Brent Crosby (1:06.41) was third in the 100 breaststroke, while Ryan Dake (58.26) was third in the 100 backstroke.
