Every year about this time, I call some of my buddies and the conversation is eerily similar about our weekend plans.

First, the good news.

Shawn Woods, the president of T.E. Woods Homes, says the opening of the Links at Stone Canyon will not be affected by a recent order from the Missouri attorney general's office that stopped some work on The Club at Stone Canyon because the property contains illegal higher-than-normal levels of methane gas, which is potentially explosive.

The Drumm Farm Golf Club, created and sitting on 280 acres of preserved Independence farmland, is for sale, Drumm Farm officials confirmed.

The approximately $3.5 million course with clubhouse facilities, is at 15400 E. 34th St., off of Lee's Summit Road.

The general manager at Fred Arbanas Golf Course at Longview Lake is excited, as his course is finally getting what he calls a much-needed overhaul of the courses greens.
