McMillin's comments: "We're excited about the new greens and bunker complexes. It's been a long time coming. It's due to our patrons and annual golfers. Those who have stayed with us all these years are finally getting a quality putting surface."
What's new in 2008?: Course is closing June 2 for the rest of 2008. The course is expected to open May 2009 following greens and bunker complex renovations to the championship course only. All other amenities remain open except the championship course. There are two new extended tee boxes on No. 7 and No. 11.
Fred Arbanas history: Opened in July 1986. Hosts Kansas City Corporate Challenge, as well as Pro-Ams. Twenty PGA Senior Tour players participated in Pro-Ams there. Also hosted Senior Tour qualifying and past Senior Tour events.
Why should I golf here?: One of the most scenic, most-played courses in Kansas City. Very walkable. Rated four-star course in Golf Digest. Was independently rated one of the best courses in Missouri. Course architect is Craig Schreiner, who has redesigned greens at Firestone Golf Club in Ohio - which is on the PGA Tour - and has designed Falcon Ridge, Paradise Pointe-Outlaw and others around the Kansas City area.
