Blue Springs Female Athlete of the Year - Jordan Joyce

It hasn’t hit Jordan Joyce. But it will.
“I think it will hit me when we have our soccer banquet,” said Joyce, a standout soccer and basketball player at Blue Springs High School shortly after the season. “That’s when I’ll start thinking about my career being over at Blue Springs High School.”
There was a touch of melancholy in her voice as she talked about a senior year that brought enough memories to last a lifetime.
“The basketball team was incredible, amazing,” she said of the Wildcats, who came so close to making the Class 4 Final Four.  “And soccer was so much fun. We beat (Blue Springs) South three times, and I’ll never forget beating them 2-1 in the district semis.”
That’s because Joyce, who is a defender, won the game on a penalty kick.
“My favorite player when I was younger was Brandi Chastain, and she was a defender,” Joyce said. “And she helped the U.S. team win a gold medal on a penalty kick. It was funny, after our win, I thought about Brandi Chastain. It was just one of those moments you will never forget.”
Yet it’s not the penalty kick or the undefeated Suburban Big Seven Conference season Joyce will remember about Blue Springs.
“The one thing I’ll remember is just being a part of this great school and all the great teams and coaches and players,” she said. “It’s really an amazing school. We have great coaches and  fans. They support us in all sports and as players, we appreciate that.”
Joyce hopes to continue her success at the next level, as she will play soccer at Aurora College, outside of Chicago.
“It’s a new challenge and I’m really looking forward to it,” Joyce said. “I’ll miss Blue Springs, but I can hardly wait for college.”
