2008 UPA High School Western Ultimate
Championships
The city of Independence and Kansas City Ultimate is hosting the 2008 UPA High School Western Ultimate Championships May 10-11.
Ultimate is a 7-on-7 sport that involves one team moving the disc up the field by throwing from player to player until it is caught in the end zone and a point is scored. The other team tries to prevent this by intercepting the disc.

Teen Dodgeball
Tournament
Ages 14-17
Teams may have from 6-10 players. National Amateur Dodgeball Associatioin rules will be followed. Register at the Truman Memorial Building by Aug. 8 to play. The fee is $30 per team. The tournament runs from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at the Truman Memorial Building gym.

Xtreme Sports Day
From 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 21 at Hill Park.
See demonstrations on skateboarding, BMX and other extreme sports. Show off your skills with a skateboard competition. There will be door prizes and refreshments and no charge. Call 325-7843 for more information.

Junior Olympics
Ages 8-13
This program is a free national grassroots skills competition that provides children the opportunity to showcase their athletic abilities. Junior Olympics Skills Competition encourages youth participation in sport and emphasizes fair and friendly competition. Youth can participate and advance through three levels of competition, including local, regional and the national finals at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. Call 325-7843 for more information.
