“Oak Grove Classic” Baseball Tournament
Oak Grove Parks and Recreation will host a USSSA sanctioned baseball tournament for any USSSA sanctioned boys baseball teams in Machine Pitch through 18-and-under. The tournament runs from June 6-8 at Webb Park. Fees for teams are $375, which includes gate fees. For more information, check out www.kcsports.org.

MLB Pitch, Hit and Run Competition
This competition is intended to encourage youth participation and to emphasize the fun element of baseball competition. This program is free of charge for boys and girls from ages 7-14. The winners in each age division advance to sectional competition, with hopes of advancing to the team championship at Kauffman Stadium. The competition will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 8. Younger division
tennis camp
A camp for children ages 6-10, concentrating on teaching the basic skills of the game, as well as proper form. Participants will receive a T-shirt and sleeve of tennis balls for attending the camp, but must provide their own racquet. Local tennis expert Becky Messer will be teaching the camp. The camp runs 8-10 a.m. from June 2-June 5. Cost is $10 per camper, and the registration deadline is Friday, May 23.

Older division

Designed for players 11-16 years old, the sessions will review basic skills of the game, then work on the harder aspects such as serving and actual matches. Participants will receive a T-shirt and sleeve of tennis balls for attending the camp, but must provide their own racquet. Local tennis expert Becky Messer will be teaching the camp. The camp runs 10:30 a.m. until noon from June 2-June 5. Cost is $10 per camper and the registration deadline is Friday, May 23.

NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick Challenge
Competition is open for boys and girls ages 8-15 and gives them the opportunity to compete separately against their peers in punting, passing and place kicking skills. The age groups are 8 and 9, 10 and 11, 12 and 13, 14 and 15 with boys and girls competing separately. Age is determined as of Dec. 31 of the current year. Proof of age must be brought to the competition. Top scorers in each division will advance to sectional competition. There is no fee to compete. The event will start at 7 p.m., Aug. 1, at the Fick Park Athletic Fields. No cleats, football shoes or turf shoes are allowed.

Skate Park Contest
Annual contest starts at 10 a.m. Sept. 27 at the Oak Grove Skate Park. Entry fee is $20. All participants must register by Sept. 12. No one will be allowed to register the day of the event.  Prizes will be awarded to winners in beginner, intermediate and advanced skill levels. Stop by the Parks and Recreation office or call 690-4003 to register for this event and get routines ready for the competition.
