An Independence man was sentenced to life plus 30 years in prison for the May 2010 murder of a 19-year-old woman.
Jurors last month found Howard Harmon, 34, guilty of first-degree murder, robbery and two counts of armed criminal action. He was convicted of killing Sabrina Jones during a robbery.
Prosecutors said the murder occurred during a robbery at a house in the 2900 block of East 21st Street and that Harmon pulled Jones from a bed and shot her with a sawed-off shotgun.
