Dunkin’ Donuts is coming to Blue Springs.

The popular doughnut shop found unanimous approval by the Blue Springs Planning Commission members on Monday night, passing its site plan and design review.

The store, to be located at 1225 Missouri 7, will be adjacent to the Point of Hope Church, which renovated the former 84 Lumber building last year.

The doughnut shop was part of the church’s plans all along, staff said. When the church zoned the property, the area in question was zoned general business and speculation was heavy that Dunkin’ Donuts would locate there.

Staff voiced some concerns about how the restaurant will tie into a sewer line and some sign issues, which, according to preliminary plans, appear to violate city codes.

But staff seemed hopeful that the issues would be resolved, and an architect and owner indicated that they would work with the city.
