Investigators were on the scene Wednesday. Police are trying to determine if her death was from natural causes or foul play. A neighbor told Examiner news partner KMBC that she was married but did not know who discovered her body. Police did not identify her.
On Wednesday morning, a police spokesperson said the body of a man was found in the 10400 block of East 15th Street near Hardy Avenue in western Independence.
Jerry Mills told KMBC that his cousin, Ron Mills, was found in the front yard of a duplex near that intersection about 5:30 a.m. Jerry Mills told KMBC that the family suspects foul play. He said his cousin, who had artificial hips and shoulders, looked like he had been in a fight and thinks he may have been robbed.
“There’s something ain’t right here,” Mills told KMBC. “Something ain’t right. Why is his face all beat and his side all beat up?”
Michael Foster, who found the body, thought the man was passed out drunk.
