The woman whose body was found dumped in a Cass County creek over the weekend has been identified.

Police identified Peggie Perez, 48, address unknown, as the victim who apparently was with a Blue Springs man when she died on Jan. 20 at his home. Her body was found in the 31000 block of T Highway, approximately 2 miles west of Garden City, Mo., by police and detectives on Sunday morning.

Lance S. Gross, 52, of Blue Springs, and Marlin S. Gross, 49, of Lee’s Summit, were charged Monday. A $150,000 bond was set for Lance after he was arraigned Monday in Circuit Court, and a warrant has been issued for Marlin, who remained at large as of Tuesday.

According to court documents, a witness told police on Saturday that she believed a murder had occurred in Blue Springs on Jan. 20. The witness told police that her friend, Marlin, had told her that he had helped his brother dispose of the body of a woman with whom Lance was having sexual relations.

Court documents state that Lance was stopped by Blue Springs police on Saturday and was questioned, at which time he told them that he and the victim had rough sex on Jan. 20 at his home in the 100 block of Southeast Second Street in Blue Springs. Lance told police that he injected the woman with Valium while they were having sex. He also used a red dog collar to choke her.

When he regained consciousness, Lance, who admitted to drinking heavily that night, discovered the victim in bed. He tried to revive her but was unsuccessful.

Leaving the home, Lance helped a friend work on his car, and on Jan. 23, he returned with a plastic bag, wrapped the body in it and drove to an area south of Harrisonville and threw the body off a bridge, according to court documents, after weighing it down with 300 pounds of weights.

The next scheduled appearance for Lance Gross is Feb. 15.
