ATK, the company that operates the U.S. Army Lake City Ammunition Plant in eastern Independence, is contributing $10,000 to the Veterans Way Memorial.
The memorial is dedicated to all American veterans and will identify the site where “The Wall That Heals” was exhibited in Blue Springs in 2010. It’s meant to be a place of personal contemplation or reflection for veterans and their families and friends. It is being funded by private donations.
Kent Holiday, the vice president and general manager of ATK Small Caliber Systems, will present a $10,000 check to Blue Springs Mayor Carson Ross in a ceremony at 8 a.m. Friday in front of Blue Springs City Hall, 903 W. Main St.
