While several Kansas City communities are making progress on securing a Menards location, Independence doesn’t have anything new to report at this time.
City officials said this week that nothing is official yet in landing the chain of home improvements at The Falls at Crackerneck Creek at interstates 70 and 470. Meanwhile, locations in the Northland and in Overland Park, Kan., are preparing for Menards to move in, with other potential sites also eyeballed in Liberty, Lee’s Summit and Grandview.
“We’re submitted all of the paperwork, and now we’re just waiting to hear something back,” Independence attorney Byron Constance, a developer for Crackerneck Creek LLC, said Thursday. “At this time, there isn’t anything else to report.”
The Independence city manager’s office also said there is nothing new to report at this time. Nearly a year-and-a-half has passed since Constance announced that Menards had issued a letter of intent to purchase more than 15 acres in the South Village component of The Falls.
