Two men robbed a Casey's General Store in Independence early Saturday morning, and police said it may be related to an armed robbery that occurred at another Casey's about a week ago.

Doug Thompson, a captain for the department, said the store at Pink Hill and R.D. Mize Road had just been opened after 6 a.m. Saturday when two black males entered. One man with a handgun kept the cashier occupied while the other leaped over the counter and stole an undisclosed amount of money.

They left the scene and no one was injured.

"We were able to get some good video of them," Thompson said.

About a week ago, the Casey's General Store on 23rd Street and Savage was robbed, Thompson said. He said a vehicle, possibly a Chevy Cavalier gray in color, was believed to have been used during both robberies.

"The MO was the same in both robberies," he said.
