Three Boy Scouts from Troop 492 -- Cody Sparks, Aaron Streit and Tom Kindler -- have achieved the elite rank of Eagle Scout.



Their Eagle Court of Honor is April 27 at Susquehanna Baptist Church in Independence.

Cody Sparks, the son of James and Michelle Sparks, joined Troop 492 in November 2003 after earning the Arrow of Light Award in Pack 492. His record of achievement includes 29 merit badges and the World Conservation Award. Cody has show leadership through the positions of Den Chief, Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader.

He attended seven years at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation, where he attained the rank of Tom Tom Beater White Shark in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. His High Adventure participation included trips to Colorado and South Dakota.

For his Eagle Service Project, Cody planned and supervised the relocation and clearing of a trail at Lake Jacomo.

Cody graduated from Fort Osage High School, where he was on the A Honor Roll as a senior and lettered in band. He is currently on the Dean’s Honor Roll as a freshman at the University of Central Missouri.

Aaron Streit, the son of Larry Streit and Linda McSparren, transferred to Troop 492 in January 2009 after joining Troop 120 in April 2005. His record of achievement includes 29 merit badges. He has shown leadership through the positions of Patrol Leader, Quartermaster and Junior Assistant Scoutmaster.

Aaron attended seven years at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation, including three years on staff. He attained the rank of Keeper of the Sacred Bundle Son of Buckeyed Buffalo in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.

For his Eagle Service Project, he planned and supervised the construction and installation of three Wood Duck boxes at Blue Valley Park.

Aaron is a senior at Fort Osage High School, where he is on the B Honor Roll.

Tom Kindler, the son of Cole and Lena Read, joined Troop 492 in November 2006 after coming from Germany. His record of achievement includes 36 merit badges and the World Conservation Award. He has shown leadership through the positions of Patrol Leader, Quartermaster, Scribe and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader.

Tom attended five years at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation and is Warrior Fierce Screeching Owl in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. His High Adventure participation was to Colorado.

For his Eagle Service Project, he planned and supervised the planting of six sugar maple trees along the Little Blue Trail off Bundschu Road.

Tom is a sophomore at Fort Osage High School.
