  • Very few people, if any, throughout the course of my life have managed to leave more of a lasting impact on me than my grandfather, Mayor Stan Salva of Sugar Creek.
This man has shown me, and continues to exemplify, the value of hard work, humility, sacrifice, compassion and the necessity of understanding those around us. He has achieved progress in Sugar Creek by leaps and bounds through his honest and sincere dedication to improving the quality of life for its citizens.
As a steward not just of economic progress but of cultural remembrance, he has actively sought to encourage the celebration of the rich heritage of our community – both in our family and within the city – keeping the traditions of our ancestors who built our beautiful community alive for younger generations to pass on to their sons and daughters.
The unique fusion of Slavic backgrounds makes Sugar Creek a truly historic example of the diversity we see all across the United States. But time has an effect. Throughout our day-to-day endeavors, with all of our modern distractions, it has become increasingly difficult for many of us to maintain that special connection with our origins. Thankfully, we have men like Mayor Salva who can bring us back home, back to where we belong. In our families, in our communities, in our jobs, and in our lives, all of us need that anchor to bring us back home.
For my family and me, Stan Salva is that anchor. I believe he is that anchor for this community, and I couldn’t imagine it any other way.
