  • Two goals didn’t get it done for the Van Horn girls soccer team.
Hannah Bishop and Diana Cruz scored a goal apiece, but the visiting Falcons fell 5-2 to Kansas City Lutheran on Wednesday.
“We had some people gone and had to piece together a defense,” Van Horn coach Taisha Newcomer said. “We played well in the second half.”
The loss dropped Van Horn to 2-2.
ST. PIUS X 2, TRUMAN 1: St. Pius had just enough offense to edge the Patriots in an opening-round game in the Pembroke Hill Tournament.
Sandra Chiles scored the lone goal for Truman (0-3) in the 70th minute off an assist from Amber Young.
“We played hard the entire game and didn’t quit,” Truman coach Jared Byrne said. ”It was good to get some offense going as well. Hopefully, we can continue to improve.”
