  • Police are investigating it as a “suspicious” death after a woman was found dead in a Blue Springs motel Thursday morning.
A 44-year-old white woman was found dead in her room by a housekeeper a little before 11 a.m. Thursday at the Nights Inn & Suites at 3400 N.W. Jefferson Street.
“We are investigating it as suspicious due to some disturbances that occurred inside the room,” Blue Springs detective Joe Fanara said. “… There were signs of a struggle inside the room.”
The woman, who has not yet been identified, had been staying in a second-floor room at the motel since July of 2012, Fanara said. The hotel is an extended stay motel, just east of the intersection of Interstate 70 and the Woods Chapel Road exit.
Fanara would not say how the woman died because of the ongoing investigation and said her death could not yet be ruled a homicide.
“We are continuing to investigate, but we have no one in custody as of now,” he said. “There are a couple people of interest we want to talk to at this time, but for now, we will just have to wait for the results from the medical examiner.”
Fanara said that it could take as long as eight weeks to get those results.
A housekeeper discovered the body when she entered the room, and police were called at 10:53 a.m. Thursday.
