  • Hannah Bishop couldn’t have started the high school girls soccer season much stronger.
    Bishop tallied a pair of goals to lead Van Horn to a 3-2 home victory over Lincoln Prep on Friday. Bishop has scored eight of the Falcons’ 12 goals this season.
    Diana Cruz also scored for Van Horn (302) and backup goalkeeper Kim Chacon gripped five saves.
    “We played really well,” Falcons coach Taisha Newcomer said. “We’re starting to bond and get some chemistry. It was a good win for us.”
    BLUE SPRINGS SOUTH 2, COLUMBIA ROCK BRIDGE 1 OT: Rock Bridge took a 1-0 lead in the 70th minute, but the Jaguars answered five minutes later on Brooke Howe's score off Beth Landon's assist. South then pulled out the dramatic road win when Emily Griffin found the net off a pass from Sarah Freiermuth nine minutes into overtime Fiday.
    "It was a very emotional win," South coach Todd FIndley said. "It was a fun game with two evenly matched, competitive teams. ... There was really a lot of heart and a lot of pride."
    The Jags improve to 3-1 with the win.
    BARSTOW 3, TRUMAN 1: Barstow’s Katie Sloan scored three unassisted goals to down the Patriots in the Pembroke Hill Tournament on Friday.
    Sandra Chiles scored Truman’s loan goal as the Pats fell to 0-5.
    “I’m proud of how the girls continued to fight until the end,” Truman coach Jared Byrne said. “I’ll take that any day.”
    GRAIN VALLEY 5, MARSHALL 0: Four different players scored as Grain Valley evened its record at 3-3 with the victory Friday at Marshall.
    “Overall, a great job tonight,” Grain Valley coach Aleana Balistreri said. “I was happy with our performance all over the field. We created several opportunities. This was our first game on the road and it was nice to end the week with a win.”
    Reighan Childers scored two goals and Devan Fairfield, Maddie Gangl and Sianna Aumua added one each for the Eagles. Kali Carson and Kylie Wagner each recorded an assist.
    Fairfield scored in the third minute, giving the Eagles the lead for good.
