The Blue Springs South tennis team trounced a visiting Lee’s Summit North 9-0 on Thursday.

Playing a 10-game pro set, the Jaguars won 90 out of 113 games played.

“The rain held just long enough for the Jaguars to claim another conference win,” South coach Craig Dierking said. “So far we are 4-0 in conference play with our last opponent (and possible championship) vs. Raymore-Peculiar next Thursday.

“It we win that night, it will be the first time since 2002 that South has claimed a conference championship in girls tennis.”

LEE’S SUMMIT WEST 9, ST. JOSEPH CENTRAL 0: Lee’s Summit West remained undefeated in nine matches with an easy Suburban Middle Six victory.

Emmie Andres, Brandi Volmer, Taylor Joseph, Kylie McCollum, Elizabeth Spurny and Lauren Culbertson were West singles winners and then teamed up to claim three doubles matches.

“I was pleased with our performance tonight,” West coach Todd Wilson said. “Central is a well-coached team and to beat them by a score of 9-0 is not indicative of how close the match actually was.”

Central, though, took the junior varsity match 9-0.

GRAIN VALLEY 9, HIGGINSVILLE 0: Grain Valley improved to 11-2 with an easy  victory over host Higginsville.

“I really like the way we’re playing,” Grain Valley coach Randy Draper said. “We’re getting down to the end and this is time to be playing well.”

Katelyn Barr, Alli Ehlen, Lenna Meredith, Lanae Wilke, Ashley Manns and Haley Porter notched Grain Valley singles wins.

Then, Barr and Ehlen, Meredith and Wilke and Manns and Nathalia Barr took the doubles matches.

The junior varsity match resulted in a 6-1 Grain Valley victory.
