The 445th Medical Detachment Veterinary Services unit is back from Afghanistan.

The 445th Medical Detachment Veterinary Services unit was honored Tuesday in a ceremony at the Truman Presidential Library & Museum marking the unit’s return from Afghanistan. The unit returned just in time for Christmas with friends and family. The 445th, based in Independence, provides mission support throughout the Central Command area of responsibility, caring for military working dogs,  providing food inspection and zoonotic disease control. It will next serve in humanitarian missions in South and Central America, according to its Web site.
