Folks can spread a little holiday cheer to one of Eastern Jackson County’s leading community organizations.
An eight-ball pool tournament to benefit the Community Services League is Saturday at Twin Strokes Bar and Grill, 510 Vesper in Blue Springs.
The double-elimination eight-ball tournament, sponsored by Twin Strokes and Home Sweet Home Realty, will begin at 2 p.m. Entry fees are $15 per person.
There will be $5,000 in raffle, silent auction items and prizes for tournament players with raffle tickets drawn every 15 minutes, including a chance at a Pechauer Pool Cue valued at $500.
Cash winnings and trophies will be awarded for the top three places.
“This is the time of the year when we need the most assistance from members of the communities we serve,” CSL Director Michael Levine said in a press release. “We’ve seen the demand in need for food, clothes, utility assistance, employment and housing counseling increase by more than 30 percent over last year.
“We’re very thankful to the folks at Twin Strokes and Home Sweet Home Realty for raising awareness about our needs and acting on it with such great events planned.”
In addition to Saturday’s event, Twin Strokes and Home Sweet Home Realty have sponsored a toy and food drive since Tuesday and will last until Saturday. Drop-off locations are Twin Strokes and Home Sweet Home Realty, 717 West Main Street in Blue Springs.
