Independence police Tuesday afternoon chased and eventually arrested two people reportedly involved in a home invasion in Oak Grove.



At approximately 4:20 p.m., officers spotted a vehicle on U.S. 24 that was reported stolen in an apparent armed home invasion in Oak Grove, according to police.

At approximately 4:20 p.m., officers spotted a vehicle on U.S. 24 that was reported stolen in an apparent armed home invasion in Oak Grove, according to police.

The vehicle fled west on U.S. 24.

The vehicle smashed into another car at the intersection of Truman Road and Sterling Avenue and then another vehicle at Truman Road and Winchester in Kansas City.

There were no reports of serious injuries but the passenger in the suspect vehicle was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

The two suspects were arrested after a brief foot chase near the intersection of Truman Road and Winchester.

Officers recovered weapons from the suspects, and numerous additional charges are expected beyond the crimes committed in Oak Grove.

The two suspects allegedly broke into an elderly woman’s home late Monday in Oak Grove. They stole her cell phone and the Toyota vehicle.

She was uninjured, according to Oak Grove police.
