Alberta Chesnut, 90, of Independence, MO passed away January 28, 2009 at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Alberta was born April 19, 1918 in Burlington, Kansas. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church since 1957. She retired from Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in 1980. Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Chesnut, in 1972; parents, Joseph George Botham and Elizabeth Cole Botham; six sisters; and two brothers. She is survived by four children, Sally Sugg, Larry Chesnut, Terry Chesnut, Susan Ingram (Roger); one sister, Martha Martens; three grandchildren, Georgia Resch (Mike), David Chesnut (Timberly) and Kendra Ingram; two step-grandchildren, Amy Coney and Matthew Gnazzo; seven great grandchildren; cousins; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She will be dearly missed.

A visitation will be held from 1-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Services at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the chapel, with burial to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
