Here's the rundown on when you can buy and when you can shoot off fireworks in EJC.

With fireworks tents popping up all over Eastern Jackson County, it is hard to forget that the Fourth of July holiday is only one week away.

But at the same time, it is important to keep in mind when fireworks can be used within the city limits and where fireworks can be purchased to celebrate the July 4 holiday.

The following is information for each city in Eastern Jackson County as to when fireworks can be purchased and at what times during the day they can be used.

Independence
The use of fireworks within the city of Independence will only be permitted between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m. July 3 and 5 and from 10 a.m. to midnight July 4. Individuals must be at least 16 years old. In addition, it is unlawful for anyone to possess bottle rockets, aerial missiles or similar devices; sparklers bombs or altered or combined fireworks. Fireworks cannot be used within 600 feet of a church, hospital, mental health facility or school or within 100 yards of any location where fireworks are sold.
Fireworks can be sold between the 10 a.m. June 23 and noon July 5. Only nonprofit organizations can sell fireworks within the city limits of Independence.

Blue Springs
Fireworks can be discharged within the city limits between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m. July 1 to 3 and from 10 a.m. to midnight July 4. There will be increased street patrol and law enforcement measures during these times to ensure residents are complying with the regulations.

Fireworks can be sold by nonprofit organizations beginning July 1. Sales will end at midnight July 4.

Lee’s Summit
Fireworks can be discharged between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m. July 2 and 3 and from 10 a.m. to midnight July 4. However, before using fireworks within the city of Lee’s Summit, individuals must obtain a permit. Permits are free and can be obtained from one of the licensed fireworks vendors in the city or from City Hall during regular business hours. Permits are valid for the address listed. For more information, call 816-969-1600. Individuals must be at least 16 years old to use fireworks.
Fireworks can be sold within the city limits beginning at 6 am. June 23 and ending at midnight July 4.

Grain Valley
Fireworks can be use between 1 p.m. and 11 p.m. July 3; between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. July 4 and between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. July 5.
Fireworks can be sold by nonprofit organizations between June 27 and July 5 within the city limits.

Oak Grove
Nonprofit organizations are allowed to sell fireworks within city limits through July 5.
