Lorene Parks, 85, of Independence, MO, passed away October 29, 2008 at Centerpoint Medical Center.

Lorene was born July 23, 1923 in Hardin, MO, to John and Ruth (Ballard) Belt. She moved to Warrensburg, MO, during her elementary school years, and went on to graduate from Warrensburg High School.  She then attended Central Missouri State University where she was a member of the Tri Sigma Sorority. Lorene was very active, and was involved in organizations such as the Eastern Star, Knife and Fork Club, PTA and Cub Scouts, Young Matrons, as well as the Asbury Sunday School Class at Christ United Methodist Church, where she was a faithful member. 

Lorene is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Emory C. Parks; two sons, Ed (Barbara) Parks and Michael (Maureen) Parks; one granddaughter, Shannon (Scott) Letts; two grandsons, Chris and Daniel Parks; two great grandsons, Parker and Connor Letts; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members. To Lorene, family always came first and she will be dearly missed by all of those who loved her. 

 A memorial visitation will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, November 3, at Christ United Methodist Church, 14506 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. A service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. There will be a private inurnment service at Floral Hills Mausoleum at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christ United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Online condolences and memories may be left for the family at www.speakschapel.com.
