James D. “Jim” Lorance, 69, of Independence, Mo., went home to be with the Lord on March 29, 2010.

James D. “Jim” Lorance, 69, of Independence, Mo., went home to be with the Lord on March 29, 2010.

Services will be Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Six Mile Baptist Church, 26005 E. Blue Mills Road, Sibley, Mo 64088.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Graveside service with military honors in Mt. Washington Cemetery.  

No flowers please, donations in memory of Jim may be made to Six Mile Baptist Church.

Jim was born on April 24, 1940, in Independence, Mo., to Merle Adrian and Ruby (Lester) Lorance. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 until 1962. Jim worked for Sprint retiring in 2000.

Jim was an active and devoted member of Six Mile Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the Encore Singers and the Cantata Choir. Jim was a member of the Oldsmobile Club of America.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley Stanford.

Among his survivors is his wife, Sheila, children Lisa Lorance, Teresa Miller and husband Rick , Garry Blevins and wife Beth, and grandchildren; Rik, Erikka, Nicole, Vince and Cody and his twin brother, John Paul Lorance and wife Betty.

Besides Jim’s loving family and many friends he will be greatly missed by his dog “Bernie”
