The Blue Springs South boys soccer team closed out the regular season with its second straight win.
The Jaguars traveled north and blanked Suburban Big Seven foe St. Joseph Central 6-0 Wednesday.
“We had a lot of good attacks, and our offensive runs were solid,” South coach Jon Grice said. “It was nice to have two wins in a row. This will give us momentum going into districts.”
Trent Sutton scored two goals to lead the Jaguars. Zane Christenson added a goal and an assist, and Kyle Young, Micah Leech and Jaime Christenson each added a goal.
Young and Zane Christenson each scored on assists from Nick Shrader in the first eight minutes and Sutton scored an unassisted goal in the 32nd minute to put the Jaguars ahead 3-0 at halftime.
Chance Reed and Jason Fischer combined for two saves to post the shutout.
South (4-14, 3-9 Big Seven) is the No. 6 seed in the Class 4 District 14 Tournament and will face No. 3 Raytown at 7 p.m. Monday at Truman High School in the first round. The winner advances to play second-seeded Blue Springs at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
South’s junior varsity beat Central 2-0.
