Julie Jon Edwards, 59, of Casper died at home on October 25, 2008.

Julie was born July 9, 1949 to John & Dorothy Williamson in Independence, MO. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1967. She married Daniel Edwards on November 15, 1969 & they have two daughters, Jennifer & Melissa.

Julie and her family moved to Casper, WY in 1982 when Dan was transferred with Amoco and lived there until 1992. They were briefly transferred to Friendswood, TX but returned to Evanston, WY in 1994 and after Dan’s retirement moved back to Casper in 2001.

While her girls were in school, she was active as a room mother in their classrooms and started the PTA at Verda James Elementary School, of which she was president for several years. She was troop leader for Jennifer’s Girl Scout Troop for 5 years and dedicated that time to teaching girls about public service, sewing, cooking and camping. Julie was always creating things but excelled at flower arrangements, owning her own in home business, The Flower Closet. After moving to Evanston she became chairwoman of March of Dimes and was recognized for raising record pledges every year she served. She also was the Arts & Crafts Director for Rocky Mountain Care of Evanston, improving the quality of life for seniors. She continued this work as a volunteer at Life Care Center of Casper. Julie was diagnosed with MS in 2001 and put up a valiant fight against an unforgiving disease, all while continuing her volunteer work by delivering Meals on Wheels with Dan.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law Lloyd Edwards, sister-in-law Sylvia Edwards and her parents.

Julie is survived by her husband Dan; daughters Jennifer Madden and husband Brian of Rapid City; Melissa Edwards of Idaho Falls, ID; brother Michael Williamson and wife Carol of Springfield, MO; mother-in-law Elizabeth Edwards of Florence, KY; brother-in-law Robert Edwards of Villa Hills, KY; step-daughter Abigail Madden and numerous nephews and their families.

Services will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, October 29 at Newcomer Family Funeral Home in Casper. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the MS Society of WY or the March of Dimes.
