Action taken Oct. 27, 2008.

The Jackson County Legislature met Monday, Oct. 27  2008, at the K.C. Legislative Assembly Area at the Kansas City Courthouse, 415 E. 12th St. in Kansas City.

Approved ordinances

Appropriating $58,000 from the fund balance of the 2008 General Fund to cover the costs for a fire suppression system in three server rooms. nAppropriating $55,760 from the fund balance of the 2008 General Fund and $9,160 from the fund balance of the 2008 Assessment Fund to cover the increased costs for employee parking. Appropriating $24,000 from the fund balance of the 2008 General Fund to cover the installation of fire suppression sensors in the HVAC system in the downtown courthouse. Appropriating $75,000 from the fund balance of the 2008 General  Fund to cover the costs for countywide telephone costs.


Resolutions passed

Authorizing the County Executive to execute Cooperative Agreements with Michele Bridges of Kansas City, Kan., Andrea Yates of Shawnee, Kan., and Meg  Chamberlain of Sugar Creek, to serve as artist-mentors for the MyARTS program, at an actual aggregate cost to the County not to exceed $16,800. Awarding a twelve 12 month term and supply contract, with annual options to extend for a total of 36 months, for the furnishing of HVAC service and repair for use by the Parks and Recreation and Public Works Departments, to Benso, Inc., of Raytown. Commissioning Luke Covey and Zachary Smith as park rangers Transferring $80,000.00 within the 2008 Special Road and Bridge Fund  to cover the costs of increased fuel expenses for the Sheriff’s Office.
