  • Three Boy Scouts from Troop 692 have attained the elite rank of Eagle Scout. Their Eagle Court of Honor will be 2 p.m. July 22 at Colonial Hills Community of Christ, 3539 S. Missouri 7 in Blue Springs.
Drew Bonfield, son of Mike and Nanci Bonfield of Greenwood, Ind., formerly Blue Springs, earned his Eagle Scout Award in December 2011.
In first grade Drew began his Cub Scout experience, joining Pack 692. He was active in Cub Scouts from first grade until fifth grade. As a Cub Scout, he earned his Arrow of Light, which still hangs on his wall today.
He then crossed over to Troop 692 in fifth grade, with many of his friends, and many soon-to-be friends. He remembers the Crossover Ceremony like it was yesterday. It was a great experience, and he was excited to cross over into Boy Scouts, knowing he had a lot of hard work ahead of him. The Dragon Patrol was strong from the beginning!
Drew’s first Boy Scout Camp experience was at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation. He knew right then that he wanted to stay active in Scouts and learn the traditions of the Mic-O-Say Tribe. He has attended camp for 5 years and since then, he has earned his rank of Warrior in the Mic-O-Say Tribe.  He would really love to be on staff at Bartle in the future, and to continue in the Tribe.
The most difficult, but rewarding, task was getting and completing his Eagle requirements and carrying them out, and completing his Eagle Project. All of the hard work paid off in the end. Drew built shelves in two closets, which organized items to be more functional for the theater department at Brittany Hill Middle School. This was a way to give back to someone – his theater teacher – and a place that helped him a lot in his scouting and school career.
Drew and his family moved to Indiana after receiving his Eagle Rank in December. He cherishes the memories and times with his Troop 692 family. Shortly after arriving in Indiana, Drew started attending meetings with Troop 621 in Greenwood, Ind., remaining active in Scouting.
Drew is now a sophomore at Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Ind. He is a member of the Center Grove Marching Band and a member of the Center Grove lacrosse team. If he is not doing one of those things, he is probably on his computer, eating or sleeping. He also enjoys spending time with his family camping, biking, being outdoors, or just hanging out with them.

Travis Austinson, son of Damon and Joan Austinson of Grain Valley, earned his Eagle Award in February 2012.
Travis crossed over into Boy Scout Troop 692 after achieving his Arrow of Light while active in Cub Pack 310. He has been a consistent leader in his Scout Troop, through his leadership roles as den chief, assistant patrol leader, patrol leader and troop guide. Travis attended summer camp at H. Roe Bartle Scout Camp in Osceola for five years and achieved Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.  He has completed 31 merit badges during his scouting career.
Page 2 of 2 - In order for Travis to earn his Eagle Award, he completed a service project at the Dillingham-Lewis Museum in Blue Springs, building an arbor for the garden.
Travis will be a sophomore at Grain Valley High School for the 2012-13 school year. He is an active player on the Grain Valley soccer team and a member of the Grain Valley Robotics Team.
Travis has aspirations to go to college at the University of Missouri in Columbia to study engineering.

Ethan Cross, son of Eric and Deanna Cross of Grain Valley, has completed the requirements for the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.
Ethan crossed over to Troop 692 after achieving his Arrow of Light as a member of Cub Pack 326.  He has completed 32 merit badges thus far. Ethan has attended summer camp two years at H. Roe Bartle Scout Camp. He has served his troop as quartermaster. He has also helped at Scout Day Camp and worked with Cub Scouts of Pack 322 of Grain Valley. Ethan’s Eagle Scout service project was making two complete sets of bunk beds for Midwest Foster Care and Adoption Association.
Ethan will be a sophomore at Grain Valley High School. He is a member of the Grain Valley Marching Eagles and also plays in concert band. Ethan plays football and baseball at Grain Valley High School and plays summer baseball on an American Legion team, and is member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Ethan has been involved with 4-H for the past 7 years and has held leadership positions at the county level and attended state leadership conferences.
He is a member of Timothy Lutheran Church and is involved in the youth group at the church. He plans to attend college and pursue a degree in education and coaching.
