The Examiner’s boys and girls players of the year, William Chrisman’s Justin Clark and Blue Springs’ Drew Roberts, will join other area standouts this weekend in the Missouri Challenge at Columbia College in Columbia, Mo.

The Examiner’s boys and girls players of the year, William Chrisman’s Justin Clark and Blue Springs’ Drew Roberts, will join other area standouts this weekend in the Missouri Challenge at Columbia College in Columbia, Mo.
They will represent the Kansas City metro area in a series of eight single-elimination games against all-star teams from other areas of the state. The new format – sponsored by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association – replaces past all-star games.
Joining Clark on the Kansas City boys team will be Raytown’s Josh Gibbs and Lee’s Summit West’s Michael Dixon.
Roberts will be joined on the Kansas City girls squad by Blue Springs teammate Bryonna Snow, Chrisman’s Kealee McAhan, Raytown’s Inesha Hale and Jaleisha Barrett and Raytown South’s Freddie Sims.
Hogan Prep’s Steve Stitzer will coach the Kansas City boys and Platte County’s Chris Stubbs will coach the Kansas City girls.
There are eight seeds in the tournament with St. Louis seeded No. 1 on the boys side, Kansas City No. 2, Southeast No. 3, Southwest No. 4, Northeast No. 5, South Central No. 6, Central No. 7 and Northwest No. 8.
The No. 1 girls seed is Southwest, followed by St. Louis, Kansas City, Central, South Central, Northeast, Southeast and Northwest.
The Kansas City boys will play Central at 5 p.m. today and the girls will play Northeast at 9:30 this morning.
