Police continue to investigate the Aug. 17 vandalism of 23 school buses in the Grain Valley School District.

Bus drivers discovered sugar had been poured into the gas tanks of half the district's buses when the engines would not turn over on the first day of school.

The vandalism disrupted transportation to and from school that day, but the Independence School District loaned Grain Valley enough buses to resume service the next day. Blue Springs and Lee's Summit also sent mechanics to help repair the damaged buses.

Assistant superintendent Marc Snow said all buses were back in service this week.

There is a $1,000 reward for anyone who has information that leads to an arrest. Call WeTip at 800-782-7462 to make a report.
