Local artist John Roush will be one of several artists featured in exhibits at two western art galleries this summer.

“Icons of the West” opened at the Dana Art Gallery in Missoula, Mont., and continues through Sept. 30. The exhibit features the interpretation of western icons by fifty nationally known artists. Dana Gallery previously hosted the 2006 and 2008 Oil Painters of America National shows.

Roush is also one of the 16 featured artists in the “Pastel Invitational” at Abend Gallery Fine Art in Denver Aug. 26 through Sept. 24. The gallery, established in 1990, features paintings and sculpture by national and internationally recognized artists.

Roush is a Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America and MidAmerica Pastel Society, and a Fellow Member of the American Artists Professional League. He has been featured in the “Pastel Journal”,  “The Artist’s Magazine” and has won numerous national awards. His work is on permanent display at the Bayview Galleries in Camden and Brunswick, Maine, and his home studio in Jackson County.
