  • I have been battling breast cancer for 12 plus years. I was originally diagnosed in March of 2000. I had two small tumors on my left side.
I have a unusual medical history so I went for more radical surgery and chemo. I had a mastectomy and chemo, but there was no lymph node involvment. The tumors were a0 and a 1. I thought I was home free. I was 42.
    Boy was I wrong.
I went through that like many others. The battle was just starting.
In 2005 I started having severe back pain, and like others, it took me a while to get to the doctor. My mother had a bad back and I seemed to have many of her problems.
    Boy was I wrong.
After a lot of effort, I found out breast cancer had spread to my lower back. I have been taking anti-estrogen hormones, pills and shots and a lot of radiation. I still have a lot in me and and my great doctor does also.
My family has been my survival guide. When I say family I am including my church family. Anyone who knows me also know that my dogs have been a big part of me staying healthier. I have been walking them for years.
Mostly I thank God for my family, and everything that has helped me survive all the difficulties.
