  • Here is your everything-you-need-to-know about Halloween fun in Eastern Jackson County this weekend.

  • FRIDAY, OCT. 29
    HAUNTED GHOST TOURS ON THE SQUARE, 7, 8 and 9 p.m., 1859 Jail, Marshal’s Home and Museum, Independence. Experience a “ghostly” tour of the jail, plus a covered wagon narrated tour sharing ghost stories and yarns of haunted places on the Square. Cost, $18, $12 for ages 7 to 11, not recommended for children under 7. For reservations, 461-0065.
    SPIRITS FROM THE PAST, 6 to 9 p.m., Missouri Town 1855, 8101 E. Park Road, on the eastern side of Lake Jacomo in Fleming Park. Walk through the moonlit town and hear spine-tingling tales over a century old. There will be children’s games, storytelling around bonfires, trick or treating and a haunted hayride. Cost, $9.     FALL FEST, 7 to 9 p.m., Woods Chapel Church of God, 1150 N.E. Woods Chapel Road, Lee’s Summit. Enjoy candy, prizes, crafts, snacks, games and inflatables. Games and activities geared for kids through age 12. No scary characters, please. The church will also be collecting new or gently used blankets and coats for Project Warmth. 373-8559.
    ENCHANTED FOREST, 7 to 9 p.m., George Owens Nature Park, 1601 S. Speck Road, Independence. This non-scary event, designed for ages 3 to 9, is sponsored by the Powerhouse Theater Foundation and Independence Parks & Recreation. Cost, $3 per person. 325-7115 or 325-7370.
    “NIGHTMARE ON 7” haunted house, sponsored by St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 7 to midnight, White Oak Shopping Plaza, Missouri 7 and U.S. 40, Blue Springs. Admission is free, but a donation is encouraged.

Kids will decorate cookies, have their face paints, play carnival games, make spooktacular crafts, visit the pumpkin patch, create monster hands and more.     HALLOWEEN PARADE/TRICK OR TREATING, 1 to 3 p.m. trick or treating; 3 p.m. parade begins, around the Independence Square. Participating trick or treating shops will have balloons outside. Free. For details on trick or treating, 461-0065; parade, 252-4745.
    “BOO” SPRINGS HARVEST FEST, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., downtown Blue Springs on Main Street between 10th and 12th streets. In addition to trick-or-treating at area businesses, there will booths set up for holiday-oriented activities, including crafts, games, face painting, an inflatable and a haunted maze.     “A HALLOWEEN MARIONETTE MUSICAL,” 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., Puppetry Arts Institute, 11025 E. Winner Road, Independence. Puppeteers Joann McMillan and Nancy Clark use Robert Smith’s marionettes to tap their toes to ghostly music. The $5 cost includes seeing the museum and a finger puppet for children.     TRUNK OR TREAT, 4 to 5 p.m., First United Methodist Church parking lot, 301 S.W. Woods Chapel Road, Blue Springs. Decorate your trunk, bring some candy for the kids and join in the fun. There will also be a moon bounce, tattoos and snacks.
    TRUNK-N-TREAT, 10 a.m. to noon, The Salvation Army parking lot, 14700 E. Truman Road, Independence. Calling all space rangers, super heroes, cowboys, cowgirls, potato heads and other trick-or-treaters to join in the fun.
    TRUCK OR TREAT fundraiser, 6 to 8 p.m., Nativity of Mary Church and School, 10017 E. 36th Terrace, Independence. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. to begin parking. At 6 p.m. gates will be closed for safety reasons and children will trick or treat from car trunks. There are carnival games inside the gym for 25 cents, and prizes to be won. Cost to attend, $5 per car.

    TRICK OR TREAT STREET, 6 to 8 p.m., Vesper Hall, 400 N.W. Vesper St., Blue Springs. Families will have the opportunity to do quick crafts, visit two mini-ghoul rooms and receive treats from business vendors. 228-0181.
    TREATS AT THE CHURCH, 6 to 7 p.m., St. Peter United Methodist Church, 3609 S.W. Missouri 7, Blue Springs. Have your children wear “fun and friendly” costumes. In addition to treats, there will be carnival games. Call Carol Clark, 229-9889.

Free snow cones for everyone and free Silly Bandz bracelets for the first 150 kids.
    HALLOWEEN IN HISTORIC NORTHEAST, 5 to 8 p.m., 3600 blk of Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City. There will be four blocks of car-free trick or treating at Halloween decorated homes, plus free activities, including a pumpkin painting station, face painting, a balloon artist and more. Open to all ages.
