Independence Police arrested a man Monday following a police pursuit that started in Independence and ended in Kansas City.

Police arrested 39-year-old Larry Decker, of Kansas City, after he refused to stop when police tried to pull him over shortly before midnight Sunday in the area of Wilson Road and Marsh Avenue in northwestern Independence, stone’s throw from Interstate 435.

The pursuit went into Kansas City and ended in the 700 block of Utley Avenue.

The police report wasn’t totally completed Monday so details of the incident weren’t disclosed.

Apparently Decker was transported to an area hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries, police said.

The vehicle he was driving apparently had been stolen, police said.

A Kansas City police helicopter and an Independence police K-9 team were used to assist in apprehending Decker, who was charged with driving under the influence. Other charges maybe pending.
