William Chrisman boys drop third straight

The losses continue for William Chrisman.
The Bears dropped their third straight game in the MaxPreps Holiday Classic Monday, falling to Foothills Christian, 78-62.
The Bears, known for their three-point shooting, hit only six treys Monday and have hit only 16 in three games for the tournament.
“We can’t throw it in the ocean, and we’re right next to the ocean,” Bears coach John Vickers said. “Coming into this tournament, we were hitting nearly 13 a game.”
Jon Ekey led the Bears (4-5) with 22 points, including four 3-pointers. Justin Clark added 18 points, but did not hit a single shot from behind the arch.
“I think we’re just seeing a different level of defensive intensity,” Vickers said of the talented teams in this tournament. “This is better talent than we normally see. I don’t know how many shots have gone in and out. It’s like there’s a lid on the basket for us.”
The Bears trailed by only six entering the fourth quarter, but couldn’t keep up with the tough Foothills Christian team.
“We felt good going into the fourth,” Vickers said. “Their best guy was on the ropes with fouls. But we couldn’t finish the deal. The fourth quarter is usually pretty good for us, but we couldn’t finish it out.”
The Bears play one more game in the tournament today before returning home.
