St. Paul AME

The St. Paul AME Church will hold its Christmas Eve service at 5:30 p.m. with the theme “Come Let Us Adore Him.” The service concludes with candlelight and caroling. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served following the service.

The church is at 200 E. Lexington Ave., Independence.


St. Matthew UMC

St. Matthew United Methodist Church will hold its Christmas morning worship service at 10 a.m. The service will be based on Scripture and carols of the season and will include communion. There is no Sunday school. All are welcome.

First Christian

The First Christian Church of Independence will have a traditional Christmas Eve service at 9 p.m.,  and will have only one Sunday service for both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day at 10:45 a.m.

Stone Church

Gary Logan will provide the worship service on the theme “A Child is Born” at the 10:20 a.m. worship service this Sunday at the Stone Church Community of Christ, 1012 W. Lexington Ave., Independence.

Logan, a retired Community of Christ appointee, has provided ministry in a variety of areas, including Asia. Ronald Yager Sr. will preside.

All are invited to the worship at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve. The service will be centered on song and telling the story of the birth of Christ.

Lake Lotawana UMC

Lake Lotawana Community United Methodist Church will hold a Christmas Eve candlelight worship service at 7 p.m.

Chapel Hill

The 6:30 p.m. Christmas Eve service at Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church in Blue Springs will be the second annual Christmas Eve Nativity Tableau. A candlelight service with communion will also be held at 11 p.m. Christmas Eve.

On Christmas Day, there will be only one service, at 10:30 a.m. There will be no Sunday school or Wee Kirk during the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

Trinity Presbyterian

Trinity Presbyterian Church will hold a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 11 p.m. Join in the fellowship around the wassail bowl starting at 10 p.m. Christmas Day worship service will be held 10:30 a.m. Come celebrate the birth of Christ.

Cornerstone Church

Cornerstone Church of Blue Springs will hold Christmas Eve candlelight and communion services at 5 and 6:30 p.m., and one service Christmas Day, at 10 a.m. The services will consist of singing carols, Scripture reading and communion.

Two Independence congregations

Two Independence churches, First Presbyterian and First United Methodist, will have a combined worship service at 10:30 a.m. Christmas Day at First United Methodist, 400 W. Maple Ave. First UMC will not have Sunday school or children’s church that day.

Christmas Eve services will be at 4 and 7 p.m. at First United Methodist. The 4 p.m. service will be a classic service of carols and candles, and the 7 p.m. service will be a relaxed service of carols and candles.
