Two people were seriously injured late Tuesday when their vehicle overturned and they were thrown from it.

Two people were seriously injured late Tuesday when their vehicle overturned and they were thrown from it.

It happened about 7:10 p.m. on U.S. 40 north of Blue Springs Lake, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

A 1998 Honda driven by Clinton N. Young, 26, of Blue Springs, was westbound on 40 and went off the right side of the road. The vehicle hit a telephone pole and an embankment, and then it overturned.

Both Young and a passenger, Amber M. Loulos, 22, of Lone Jack, were thrown from the vehicle. Neither was wearing a seatbelt.

Both sustained serious injuries and were taken by ambulance to the Centerpoint Medical Center.
The Honda was totaled.
