The people on the west side are tired of the promises to revitalize the west side when all we hear are new endeavors on the east side.

To the editor:

In regard to Independence City Council Member Lucy Young’s comment that the new business park’s location needed clarification: I understand her frustration about some of the comments on this business park. However, the people on the west side are tired of the promises to revitalize the west side when all we hear are new endeavors on the east side. I hope we can work together on this issue in the future.

The west side was a wonderful area when I moved here in 1974. The Fairmount business district looked like Main Street U.S.A. in Disneyland, and Englewood and Maywood were in similar condition. Englewood is coming back, but we need to do more for the other two areas and bring jobs back here.

This is so important, and I hope everyone sees we all gain by all of Independence and Sugar Creek being a business-friendly area.
