Violet Marie Whiting, 96, of Independence, MO passed away, Monday, August 25, 2008 at Rosewood Health Center.

 Violet was born May 13, 1912 in Deer Creek, MN to Orrin Herbert and Rosa Belle (Fletcher) Vargason and has been a long time Independence resident. She was a loving wife and mother and had worked at Lake City Ammunition Plant as well as Tension Envelope Company. She was a lifelong active member of the Restoration Church (Cutlerite’s) in Independence, MO. She was married to Julian Whiting on December 24, 1933; he preceded her in death on October 3, 2004.

Survivors include; a son, Stan Whiting and his wife Shirley of Independence, MO, a daughter, Mary Worden and her husband Wray of Blue Springs, MO a son, Daryl Whiting and his wife Elaine of Blue Springs, MO; 3 sisters, Hazel Whiting of Independence, MO, Grace Persons of Henning, MN and Irene Tigges of Fargo, ND; 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and her loving church family.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 28, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, Independence, 816-252-7900. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m., until service time Thursday at the chapel. Online condolences may be expressed at www.speakschapel.com.
