Virginia Louise (Flaim) McMenamy, 80, of Independence, Missouri, passed away November 26, 2010, at Centerpoint Hospital.  

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 2, 11 a.m. at Nativity of Mary Church, 10100 E. 40 Highway, Independence, MO 64052.  

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday with rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the Church.  

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Nativity Church building fund.

Virginia was born January 27, 1930 in Rosati, Missouri, to immigrant parents, where grapes were the main farming crop.  She met and married her husband of 59 years while the two worked at McDonnell Aircraft in St. Louis.  After her three sons were in school, she returned to work including 23 years at Kansas City Internal Medicine and retired in 1994.

She was an active member of Nativity’s Altar Society serving as President and then chairperson of its Funeral Dinner and Church Cleaning Committees.  She was also a Eucharistic Minister to Research Hospital and at Nativity Church.  She actively participated as a volunteer in numerous organizations and school committees.  Together with her husband, a Permanent Deacon for 30 years, she was a faithful partner in counseling engaged couples in marriage preparation and countless Catholic ministries.  

She is also lovingly remembered for many family and social gatherings and celebrations, for her excellent cooking, warm hospitality and humor.

She is survived by her husband Justin, sons and daughters-in-law; Daniel and Madonna, Brian and Nancy, Kris and Julie, and grandchildren; Justin, Adam, Ryan, Nick and Kristen.  

She was preceded in death by her parents Silvio and Lucy Flaim, brothers Rudy and Sammy, and sisters Edith, Catherine, Mary, Gisella (Pat) and Emma.
