Fort Osage ran into a good Kearney team, but still came away with a couple of highlights despite the loss.

No. 5 singles player Cassie Allee posted the Indians’ only win Wednesday in the 8-1 loss, and No. 1 Kelly Cochran came up just short in a 10-8 loss.

“I was excited that Cassie Allee was able to pull out another win in her singles match,” Fort Osage head coach Jordan Groves said. “She seems to have a better mental game this year that has allowed her to stay focused and play hard until the end.

“Kelly Cochran played another good match. Even though she lost, I continue to see improvement in the way she handles certain situations on the court. She had several really great points.”

Kearney also won the junior varsity match 6-3.

LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 8, BELTON 1: Lee’s Summit North improved to 2-1 with an easy victory at Belton Thursday.

“Overall, another nice outing by the Broncos,” North coach Stuart Reece said. “We are still struggling to develop some conistency with our games but will take all of the victories we can get.”

Vilune Sestokaite, Kadi Severson, Ashton Pohlman, Christina Leeper and Kelsey Ainsworth were North singles winners. Sestokaite and Moore, Severson and Pohman and Ainsworth and Karli Shortell combined for doubles wins.
