Eight Blue Springs businesses were issued citations for selling alcohol to a minor during a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office alcohol compliance check in mid-September.


According to a press release, on Sept. 15, the Jackson County special response team conducted compliance checks at 19 businesses in Jackson County.


During the operation an underage decoy entered the business and attempted to purchase alcohol while wearing recording equipment to verify actions of both the decoy and the business clerk.


Citations were issued to clerks at: Conoco, 208 Woods Chapel Rd; BP, 1922 Woods Chapel Rd.; Conoco, 2401 Missouri 7; BP, 1005 Missouri 7; Shell, 1002 Missouri 7; B & G Liquors, 103A Missouri 7; Casey’s, 2424 Missouri 7; and Lotawana Spirits, 9322 Missouri 7.


Repeated violations that occur at a particular business could involve the Missouri State Liquor Control, which may initiate disciplinary action against the business liquor license.


The operation was funded with a Missouri Department of Transportation under a Youth Alcohol Enforcement Grant.
