Students from Truman State University, Newman University and University of Nebraska-Lincoln earn recognition.

Truman State

Amy Kreimer of Blue Springs, has received the Outstanding Graduate Student in Communication Disorders Award from Truman State University.

Kreimer is a graduate student majoring in communication disorders.

She is the daughter of Dan and Marilyn Kreimer of Blue Springs and a 2002 graduate of Blue Springs High School.

At Truman, Kreimer has been involved with Phi Eta Sigma National Honors Fraternity, Psi Chi Psychology Fraternity and varsity volleyball.



Newman University

Michael Toon of Blue Springs,, has received the five-year, $15,000 Trustee scholarship from Newman Univeristy.

Toon is the son of James and Janet Toon. He graduated from Blue Springs High School this spring and will attend Newman University in the fall.



Nebraska-Lincoln

Several local students were honored for academic achievements at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Senior Kari Neill, of Independence, and senior Kelly Shockey, of Lee’s Summit, received the Superior Scholar Award.

Freshmen Sophie Becker, Katie Kidwell, Jillian Schleiden, Justin Schihanek and Andrew Stellmon all of Lee’s Summit, received the High Scholars Award. Each earned a 4.0 GPA.
