  • The St. Mary’s boys and girls track and field teams will be sending several athletes to sectionals.
    The St. Mary’s boys finished third with 79 points, while the Trojan girls took sixth with 46 points in the Class 1 District 7 meet Monday at St. Joseph. The top four individual finishers advance to the Class 1 Sectional 4 meet Saturday at Holden High School.
    The boys were led by a 1-2 sweep in pole vault by juniors Eric Andrews (12 feet) and Jacob Cheney (11 feet, 6 inches).
    Antonio Johnson took second in the 100 meters in 11.78 seconds and teamed with Tanner Butler, D.J. Joseph and Ivan Saenz for a second-place showing in the 4x100 relay (47.85) and a third-place finish in the 4x200 relay.
    Junior Sawyer Meese also advanced in the shot put, taking fourth. Tucker West was fourth in the 110 hurdles.
    The 4x800 relay team of Butler, Steven Gordon, Conlan Miller and Jesse Smith finished fourth.
    Rachael Graef led the St. Mary’s girls, qualifying in both the 100 high hurdles and 300 low hurdles with fourth-place finishes
    Leah Ekart moved on with a third-place finish in the high jump. Samantha Cheney and Anne Stark took second and third in the pole vault to advance.
    The Trojans’ 4x800 relay team of Desarae Coffey, Ekart, Victoria Haggerty and Melody Kimbrough took third to advance. Cheney, Ekart, Haggerty and Kimbrough took fourth in the 4x400 relay.
