  • The William Chrisman couldn’t overcome an early goal Wednesday.
The Bears fell 1-0 to the Raytown Blue Jays on Elizabeth Leon’s unassisted goal in the 17th minute at Independence All-School Stadium.
“We got a little unlucky on the goal,” Chrisman coach John Straub said after his team fell to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in Suburban Middle Seven conference play. “We had our opportunities to even the game but were unable to finish them.”
The lone goal came on a corner kick. The Bears mishit a clearing kick and Leon beat Chrisman goalkeeper Jordyn Atagi on the loose ball.
Chrisman’s Amanda Olsen just missed the equalizer, sending a shot just wide off a corner kick. Mackenzie Erikson had a breakaway but Raytown keeper Kelsey Barrett managed to knock away the shot.
Chrisman won the junior varsity game 2-0.
ST. PAUL’S 7, OAK GROVE 0: Oak Grove remained winless on the season with a home loss to St. Paul's Lutheran of Concordia. The Oak Grove junior varsity fell 2-0.
